Not All ‘No’s’ Are Equal

We all have something in common: the number of times we’ve had to listen to the word NO.

After a lifetime of hearing the word ‘no’, I decided it was time to cultivate a relationship with it. After all, if it was going to be present in my life this much, I’d better learn to love it.

As I learned to scratch below the surface of every ‘no’ I had heard, I discovered a labyrinth of meaning.

Some no’s will mean: Move On!

Some no’s will mean: You are on the right path.

Some no’s will mean: You are in the wrong room.

Some no’s will mean: You need to do more work.

Hidden in plain sight, every ‘no’ was leaving behind a clue that was pointing me in the right direction. It’s safe to say, the word ‘no’ has become my guardian angel, helping me course correct on this journey called life.
